In my painting work, I imagine a world that has survived the disappearance of our own. My creatures are subterranean beings that emerge after humans have profoun- dly transformed, exhausted, and ultimately destroyed the Earth. They come from a buried, invisible realm that existed before us and will continue to exist after us. I am not seeking to represent an idealized nature. Rather, I imagine it as an autonomous, strange, and at times unsettling force, reclaiming what humanity has abandoned.
My creatures seem to emerge from matter itself: they merge, overlap, and transform. Their bodies are fragmented; their limbs extend or blend into one another; hands, eyes, mouths, and silhouettes become elements of a collective organism. At times, it is difficult to tell where one creature begins and another ends. Colour plays an essential role in this vision. Reds, blues, oranges, greens, and whites collide and intertwine like different natural forces. This intensely vivid palette contrasts with the idea of ecological catastrophe: even after destruction, something continues to live. Colour thus becomes a form of resistance, almost a primitive energy that refuses to disappear. Through these beings, I reflect on the place of humanity within its environment and on what might exist after us.
